The
2009-2010 East Carroll Big Buck Contest Banquet was held
Thursday February 4, 2010 at the Crop Production Services
building (formerly UAP) in Lake Providence. Special thanks goes
to these folks for allowing us to use their building for this
event.
Despite the rainy weather, this year’s banquet was a huge
success. A large crowd of almost 300 was in attendance, with
everyone enjoying live music by our local band “Close Enough.”
Special thanks to Sheriff Mark Shumate and his department for
the wonderful smoked brisket sandwiches and peach cobbler.
Also, we would like to thank Doug McWilliams for providing the
assorted chips for the banquet.
Prizes were handed out to the top three highest scorers in each
category and many door prizes were awarded. We had an added
bonus this year for the young children (12 and under). Thanks
to Joe and Evelyn Ross, who sponsored “The Little Britches”doe
category. Joe and Evelyn had this idea and it was put into
place for the first time this year. Next season, stay tuned.
This category will be a little more interesting. Winners will
be selected by the doe having the longest tail. That should be
fun!!!
As

Nathan Dye and John Kelly deserve a big thank you for scoring
all the deer and thanks to all the hunters out there for
participating in the event. We are looking forward to a bigger
and better contest next year.
