Chronic Wasting Disease

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has included an article on Chronic Wasting Disease in their Winter 2010 newsletter in an effort to educate hunters about the devastating effects of the disease on infected wildlife.  CWD, which is a 'progressive and incurable neurologic disease caused by an infectious protein particle, is affecting ruminant animals in the Cervidae family (white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, and moose).'  Louisiana wildlife is currently free of this disease and the LDWF is working to keep it that way with education, surveillance and action by hunters.  Follow the link below to read the article.

Hide and Seek

Sandra Brown

8 Point -142 1/8

Sandra killed this buck during the 2009-2010 season, but after 3 days of searching, she was unable to find it. Her dad, Sonny Wolf, while rabbit hunting, stumbled upon the deer while less than a hundred yards from her stand after the season had closed.  She would have taken 3rd place in Women's division.
